The project consisted of the deconstruction of dams through green infrastructure strategies as part of the mine decommissioning process and compliance with environmental agency guidelines regarding safety and landscape restoration. The project had a multidisciplinary team responsible for engineering and geotechnical elements and the careful selection of macrophyte species for slope planting and riprap. The existence of an upstream spring enabled the creation of constructed wetlands and the transformation of the landscape from geometric reservoirs into organic lagoons, with the planting of species capable of filtering and improving the water quality and at the same time assisting in the system stabilization
